How To Include Shipping Costs in Quotes (Group Ship)

There are two schools of thought when it comes to shipping: group shipping and individual shipping, with manufacturers like Alta and Hunter Douglas using group shipping, while others like Norman ship everything separately.

• To add shipping costs using the group ship feature, users need to log into the browser version of the portal, go to the manufacturer tab, and open up the desired manufacturer, such as Alta.
• Under the shipping information section, users can input the shipping costs, including the minimum ship fee and the cost for each subsequent unit, as well as the cost to charge the customer.
• The system allows for two columns: one for the actual cost and one for the cost to charge the customer, giving users the flexibility to markup shipping costs if desired.
• Once the shipping information is filled out, users can update the pricing and RPM page for the manufacturer, select the product, and choose a shipping group, which will prepopulate the shipping costs.
• For manufacturers that ship everything individually, such as Norman, users can select the “ship individually” option and fill out the shipping costs manually.
• The system will automatically calculate the shipping costs when creating a quote, and users can also override the calculated shipping costs if needed.
• The system also allows for installation costs to be itemized and calculated, and users can choose to build these costs into the overall price or charge them separately.
• Users have the flexibility to charge flat rates or markup shipping and installation costs as needed.
• The system also allows users to zero out shipping costs if desired, which can be used as a closing tactic.
